My name is Scott Marsh. I am facilitating this years presentation of 33 - The Series.
This is a life changing set of short videos intended to fight back against the worldly view of masculinity.
You will gradually build for yourselves a worldview that is based upon the wisdom of the Bible and the life and ministry of Jesus. You will start to recognise your role as provider, protector, encourager, leader in the lives of those around you. This is role you were made for. It is also the role that culture fights against. You need a vision for your life and brothers to help you live it.
About Me
I am currently 68 years old, married to my wife Karen of 34 years. It has been an incredible opportunity to learn from and to serve her in her role as mother and caregiver. We have two children from a previous marriage and four grandchildren. What a blessing our children and those grandkids are! We love them all very much.
I was raised in a home of church-going parents (Presbyterian) and attended church into my mid-teens. Never really got much out of it - didn't understand the King James bible and couldn't read it. My dad prayed in "King James speak" so it all seemed rather contrived. It wasn't until Easter 2001 when a friend invited us to her church in Baltimore and I was exposed to authentic fellowship and Spirit led worship. Wow. What a difference.
I very timidly went with a group of church guys to a Promise Keeper event in Baltimore in June 2001. Wasn't really aware of what I was getting into but I went anyway. It was a simply stunning weekend of God's presence and being made aware that I was loved and was created for something more. Something to pursue, something to stand for and represent in order to make a contribution to humanity as my legacy. For me, Romans 12:2 said it all.
About My Ministry
That weekend with Promise Keepers sealed the deal. I was no longer my own and had been launched into the world of Christianity. A world that I had never seen before, even though it had always been around me.
I then had the opportunity to facilitate the original Authentic Manhood (Dr. Robert Lewis - Little Rock Bible Church) at my church. It was attended by some men of the church and a good set of guys from Helping Up Mission. I had a front row seat to the changes experienced by the guys over the time we spent together. What a blessing to be a small part of these guys learning to embrace their faith and engage the world around them with a newly found purpose.
That experience led to a series of events that sold me on the idea that I was supposed to pursue ministry to men as my life's calling.
